Organizer Communications

Effective community leaders have more than just perseverance and passion. They are good organizers and communicators. The resources below will help you learn the tips and tricks needed to recruit, train, support, and maintain the people who support your cause.

3 Quick Tips

01.

Embrace an action strategy. In order to effect change, you must have a goal. Organizers need to be clear about the actions and outcomes they are seeking. This includes knowing what people or institutions to approach for change and the most effective ways to ensure their attention and follow-through.

02.

Communicate clearly, soon, and often. Bringing a group of people together for any cause is a recipe for potential chaos. Whether it’s agreeing on goals and strategy, or making sure everyone knows when and where to meet for an upcoming event, clear and direct communication is the best way forward.

03.

Celebrate your wins. Lifelong community organizers know that sometimes winning is winning, and sometimes winning is losing. Organizing can cause mental, physical, and financial hardships—so celebrate victories, large and small, and be prepared for more organizing even after a win.
