Sometimes, you just need a small suggestion to jump-start your writing. In this section, you’ll find a collection of sources jam-packed with prompts focused on social and racial justice. They’ll challenge you to reconsider norms and the history of social change, and give you a chance to personally reflect to uncover where your awareness and activist interests lie. These are terrific prompts for personal work, creative teaching ideas, and crafting and submitting your own opinion essays.

Don’t overthink. When choosing a prompt for inspiration, grab the one that speaks to you right away. Once you start writing, you’ll see if it gains traction. If it doesn't deliver, choose another that resonates more potently and move on.

Be more descriptive. Challenge yourself to write on a prompt that really grabbed your attention in the most vivid detail possible. Chances are, what you write isn’t the last word you’ll have on a topic, but will likely lead you to more insight.
